2002 Reserve Pinot Noir awarded 93/100 points.

The 2002 Reserve Pinot Noir has just been awarded 93/100 points in an international wine review from Patty Landee. The reviewer described the Reserve as "Medium intensity ruby-garnet color. Aromas of plums, black cherry, mint and spice. Smokey forest floor bouquet. Tastes of velvety dark fruit, cinnamon and well-balanced tannins. A very long and lingering aftertaste." SILVERWOOD IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF THE 2002 RESERVE PINOT NOIR.

This release is very limited - a single barrel was selected from the 2002 vintage and reserved for extended aging in a new sirugue barrel for 20 months.

We only release a reserve in exceptional years when conditions are suitable to produce a very high quality wine that possesses characteristics that will allow longer development in oak and in the bottle.

The 2002 Reserve Pinot Noir displays the benefit of a long, cool ripening season and extremely low yields in its enhanced fruit intensity and deep magenta red colour. Traditional Pinot Noir winemaking practices have developed an powerful aroma of black morello cherries, fresh raspberries and hints of earthiness. A full-bodied palate offers rich berry fruits and plums. Twenty months spent in new, quality French Sirugue barriques has beautifully integrated the fruit with oak and fine grain tannins, resulting in a wine with outstanding complexity and persistence.

This wine is suitable for enjoying now, but offers maximum potential for long-term cellaring over the next 4-6 years.
