Single Estate, Hand-Crafted Mornington Peninsula Wines
Our ‘Estate’ wines are our premium wines made from grapes grown on our vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia.
2008 Silverwood Estate Pinot Noir
Marque D' Argent Chardonnay is a limited release wine from the 2007 vintage restricted to 40 cases. It is produced from the single vineyard estate on the Mornington Peninsula planted in 1997. The fruit was hand harvested and gently whole cluster pressed in small batches before it was left to settle overnight. The partially clarified juice was then transferred to barrels for fermentation. Quality French oak barrels were used from the Vosges and Allier regions. The best barrels were selected at 10 months from our Estate Chardonnay range then reserved for a further 6 months maturation before bottling as this limited release. Care was taken to match malolactic fermentation and lees contact to ensure balance and to ensure primary fruit and acid were not over-powered by secondary winemaking characters.
This wine has a brilliant, vibrant appearance and a mid-straw colour. The nose displays white stone fruits with warm brioche and spice notes. The palate is elegant and balanced with well integrated fruit and quality oak. Citrus and stone fruit characters are displayed with peach and nectarine dominant. The palate finishes with a touch of oatmeal and spice. The structure is seamless with a creamy mouth feel and a clean finish. The 2008 Estate Pinot Noir will age for 2-5 years and develop further complexity and character.

2007 Silverwood Estate Pinot Noir SOLD OUT
2007 Silverwood Reserve Pinot Noir
This limited release wine is crafted from handpicked grapes from the 2007 vintage. Our 2007 Estate Pinot Noir was awarded 94 points by James Halliday and this wine represents the best barrels from this vintage. After repeated barrel tastings a small number of the outstanding barriques were selected and reserved for extended maturation of 21 months. We only produce The Reserve from outstanding vintages and this is a serious wine equal in stature to our previous 2002 and 2004 Reserves.
The Reserve possesses beautiful clarity and colour (magenta tinges giving way to bright garnet) in the glass. The wine opens with a beguiling and powerful nose packed with black fruits, floral notes and spice. In the mouth the wine delivers on the promise of the nose and creates an overall impression of smoothness and balance. It is structured and persistent with fine silky tannins. After opening, the wine will evolve and start to 'open up beautifully'. Decanting is recommended. The structure of this wine will allow cellaring for up to 10 years and the character and power will no doubt continue to build over time.

Pale yellow straw colour in the glass with a brilliant appearance. Lifted aromas of stone fruits, vanilla and some citrus and spice notes. On the palate, delicate white peach and nectarine are layed with almond meal and spice. The wine has very good acid balance and fruit/oak integration resulting in a beautifully balanced wine. Maturation in high quality French oak adds the spicy, flavours and a creamy aftertaste.

Silverwood Marque D’Argent Pinot Noir 2005
GOURMET TRAVELLER WINE FEB/MAR 2008 91 Points “The reserve pinot from a new maker, and what an impressive debut. It has some leathery and earthy aspects to its complex bouquet, shot through with black cherry, vanilla and chocolate. It’s very ripe and almost jammy. Good backbone too. 4+”
