2007 Silverwood ‘Estate’ Chardonnay
The 2007 Estate Chardonnay is produced from our single vineyard estate on the Mornington Peninsula planted in 1997. The fruit was hand harvested and gently whole cluster pressed in small batches before it was left to settle overnight. The partially clarified juice was then transferred in barrels for fermentation. Quality French oak barrels were used from the Vosges and Allier regions. Care was taken to match partial malolactic fermentation and lees contact to ensure balance and to ensure primary fruit and acid were not over-powered by secondary winemaking characters.
Pale yellow straw colour in the glass with a brilliant appearance. Lifted aromas of stone fruits, vanilla and some citrus and spice notes. On the palate, delicate white peach and nectarine are layed with almond meal and spice. The wine has very good acid balance and fruit/oak integration resulting in a beautifully balanced wine. Maturation in high quality French oak adds the spicy, flavours and a creamy aftertaste.

Silverwood Pinot Grigio 2008
This Mornington Peninsula Pinot Grigio was made in the classic Italian style (without malolactic fermentation or oak influence) to preserve the fresh and lively characters of the variety. The nose exhibits citrus and honeysuckle while the palate is full of pear, apple and a touch of tropical fruit and minerals. It has a wonderful crisp and dry finish - a hallmark of Italian pinot grigio style - together with just the right fruit weight and texture to complement food. Match with goats cheese, chicken, seafood, sushi or Thai food.
According to Melbourne Sommelier Ben Knight “ This wine has great acidity laying beneath a tight and mineral expression of fruit; green apple and pear, fresh herbs, citrus notes and some white flowers, very impressive and very varietal indeed. The Mornington Peninsula impresses me more and more of late, and it is wines like this that are leading the way, simple, clean and tasting as they should.” (www.benandwine.com/2008-silverwood-pinot-grigio).
Silverwood Sauvignon Blanc Fumé 2009

GOURMET TRAVELLER WINE FEB/MAR 2008 91 Points “The reserve pinot from a new maker, and what an impressive debut. It has some leathery and earthy aspects to its complex bouquet, shot through with black cherry, vanilla and chocolate. It’s very ripe and almost jammy. Good backbone too. 4+”
